Flesh and Blood<\/em>‘s latest set, Part the Mistveil<\/em>, takes players to a mystical land of Illusionists, Ninjas, and Assassins, all harnessing their Inner Chi to unleash a second wind of power. Today’s Precon Progression hero is Nuu<\/a><\/span><\/span>, an Assassin that plays into the disruptive control playstyle that players love to hate.<\/p>\n

<\/div><\/div>\n

What’s in the Nuu Blitz Precon Deck?<\/h2>\n

Nuu<\/a><\/span><\/span>‘s game plan is simple – whittle the opponent down and use their cards against them later on when she finally ascends. This is carried out by utilizing powerful stealth cards and comboing them with attack reactions to precisely corner the opponent.<\/p>\n

Let’s look at the deck list first:<\/p>\n

The offensive mill package of Art of Desire: Body<\/a><\/span><\/span>, Desires of Flesh<\/a><\/span><\/span>, and Double Trouble<\/a><\/span><\/span> is a great jumping-off point for Nuu, as these already contain relevant keywords and effects.<\/p>\n

<\/div><\/div>\n

The trio is completed by Impulsive Desire red<\/a><\/span><\/span> and blue<\/a><\/span><\/span>, and Bonds of Attraction<\/a><\/span><\/span> to further zero in on the aggressive mill plan.<\/p>\n

<\/div>
<\/div><\/div>\n

Hiss red<\/a><\/span><\/span>, yellow<\/a><\/span><\/span>, and blue<\/a><\/span><\/span> and Venomous Bite<\/a><\/span><\/span> are both core cards and generate an additional attack reaction in hand, to be played at a later time. This gives us agency on how to ration out our reactions to reach thresholds for effects like Double Trouble<\/a><\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Arousing Wave<\/a><\/span><\/span> and Undertow Stilettos<\/a><\/span><\/span> are no slouches either, as once again, they provide additional options on how to best time our reactions. We can even arsenal Slither<\/a><\/span><\/span> or Fang Strike<\/a><\/span><\/span> if we so wish.<\/p>\n

Beckoning Mistblade<\/a><\/span><\/span> seems great even in further upgrades, as its on hit effect only applies when we attack with a blue card, instead of any succeeding attack, unlike the other Assassin daggers. This means we can lead with Mistblade, follow up with another dagger effect, then go in with a blue attack to maximize all the effects procing in one attack.<\/p>\n

Initial Upgrades for Nuu<\/h2>\n

<\/div><\/div>\n

As the current attack package is decent, but nothing stellar, we can provide a little bit more oomph through Annihilate the Armed<\/a><\/span><\/span>, Infect<\/a><\/span><\/span>, and Sneak Attack<\/a><\/span><\/span>. They serve as larger-statted attacks which also mill the opponent out and furthers Nuu<\/a><\/span><\/span>‘s gameplan.<\/p>\n

Bonds of Attraction red<\/a><\/span><\/span>, Art of Desire: Mind<\/a><\/span><\/span>, and Double Trouble blue<\/a><\/span><\/span> are added for redundancy and consistency, but are still standouts.<\/p>\n

Let’s also flesh out the Transcend package further by adding in A Drop in the Ocean<\/a><\/span><\/span> and The Grain that Tips the Scale<\/a><\/span><\/span>, plus Rising Sun, Setting Moon<\/a><\/span><\/span>, just as a way to fix a bad hand.<\/p>\n

Speaking of filtering, Sink Below<\/a><\/span><\/span> is almost an auto-include in any deck; it’s just too efficient. Blood Drop Brocade<\/a><\/span><\/span> and Mask of Shifting Perspectives<\/a><\/span><\/span> are the best lowest-priced cards we can run in Nuu. They do their jobs well enough, as the upgrades come in the longer run.<\/p>\n

Nerve Scalpel<\/a><\/span><\/span> and Orbitoclast<\/a><\/span><\/span> are majestics, but are on the cheaper side, so we should consider them as meta calls. A copy of Spider’s Bite<\/a><\/span><\/span> is also great to have and could be the second dagger we play in all cases. Think of it as a personal toolbox depending on what you expect to be in your local meta and tinker away.<\/p>\n

Mid-Term Upgrades<\/h2>\n

Sacred Art: Undercurrent Desires<\/a><\/span><\/span> – we have to play the Legendary card, no? On its own it’s just insane value given the deck’s current setup – worst case, it pitches for three.<\/p>\n

In terms of attack reactions, Gorgon’s Gaze<\/a><\/span><\/span> is backbreaking when played at the right time, and might even see sideboard play against Guardians or defensive decks in general. Meanwhile, Siren’s Call<\/a><\/span><\/span> is an aggressive way to further strip an opponents’ hand off of important cards. We can use this with our initial Beckoning Mistblade<\/a><\/span><\/span> hit from only a single blue pitch. Just a Nick<\/a><\/span><\/span> is a great upgrade to Hiss yellow and makes blue attacks all the more threatening.<\/p>\n

Probably one of my favorite Flesh and Blood<\/em> cards, Surgical Extraction<\/a><\/span><\/span> plays perfectly into Nuu’s gameplan of an aggressive control style, all while being blue and sporting a respectable power. This might be worth considering as the very first big purchase for the deck. Levels of Enlightenment<\/a><\/span><\/span> feels like a great shoo-in, seeing how many blue cards we have in the deck. We can easily pitch two to three blue cards just off of utilizing our daggers for attacks. Maybe think of it as an Enlightened Strike<\/a><\/span><\/span> for Mystics. Persuasive Prognosis<\/a><\/span><\/span> is just a straight up upgrade over cards like Desires of Flesh<\/a><\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Bonds of Agony<\/a><\/span><\/span> is a haymaker if I’ve ever seen one! While the condition to proc seems high, the deck is built to unleash a flurry of attack reactions anyway. Even our leg and arm pieces already provide two attack reactions, so we only need one more. However, even the mere threat of letting it go unblocked is what makes Assassin so threatening as a class. While not a stealth card, Leave No Witnesses<\/a><\/span><\/span> is definitely one of the class’ top cards and is a threat even to their arsenal. It also builds up Silver<\/a><\/span><\/span> tokens, which can be used as a payoff in the latter upgrades of the deck.<\/p>\n

<\/div><\/div>\n

Mask of Perdition<\/a><\/span><\/span> can be an optional upgrade, as Mask of Shifting Perspectives<\/a><\/span><\/span> is decent enough on its own. However, Perdition has the upside of recurring itself at such a cheap market price, so it might be worth picking up. Consider Plunder the Poor<\/a><\/span><\/span>, if that’s the case, to get a critical mass of Silver<\/a><\/span><\/span> generators.<\/p>\n

Long-Term Upgrades<\/h2>\n
<\/div><\/div>\n

Command and Conquer<\/a><\/span><\/span> is just too good of a card and a worthy investment, as it will find a home in many a deck.<\/p>\n

<\/div><\/div>\n

What else can be said about Codex of Frailty<\/a><\/span><\/span>, one of the most annoying cards in Flesh and Blood<\/em>? It discards, recurs a card, and weakens the opponent’s next turn. If you or anyone you know have ever been on the receiving end of a Codex of Frailty<\/a><\/span><\/span>, you may be subject to compensation.<\/p>\n

Finally, the Assassin equipment package is a pricey one, requiring in-class options to fully bring out its full potential. Mask of Recurring Nightmares<\/a><\/span><\/span> is probably one of the strongest cards from Part the Mistveil<\/em>, especially in the late game.<\/p>\n

Redback Shroud<\/a><\/span><\/span> and Blacktek Whisperers<\/a><\/span><\/span> are great equipment which can be blocked with, then procced, then recurred at a later time. Flick Knives<\/a><\/span><\/span> is just a nasty way to end the game and has so many applications, specially when we bring our whole suite of daggers to the fight.<\/p>\n

Nuu is definitely my favorite hero from\u00a0Part the Mistveil<\/em> and I cannot wait to play her more. Her late game inevitability may be unmatched – we just need to get there, specially in a 20-life format. The next edition of Precon Progression will continue to discuss the other MST heroes.
